A medical graduate of University College Galway, Dr Conneally undertook her initial haematology training at St James’s Hospital and subsequently trained in McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

Her career then took her to the Terry Fox Laboratory in Vancouver where she completed a PhD from the University of British Columbia. Following completion of her PhD, Dr Conneally joined the Leukaemia /Bone Marrow Transplant Group in Vancouver where she was an attending physician until her return to Ireland in 2001.

Dr Conneally’s interests include the biology/treatment of acute myeloid leukaemia and stem cell transplantation. Her other main disease focus is the diagnosis and management of patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPD) including chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML). She serves on the UK and Ireland National Cancer Research Network (NCRN) Advisory Group for CML/MPD. She is active in clinical trials in myeloid malignancies.
